How will it work

If you wish to use Ozeki Chat Community Edition, you will install your chat server on a Windows or on a Linux server and you will manually create user accounts by providing the user's full name and e-mail address. You can send out invitations in E-mail to your users with links they can use to download the chat clients. Your users can connect from your LAN or through the Internet to your chat server. They can use a webbrowser or an installed Ozeki Chat Client software to communicate with each other through this great chat system.

What is not included in Ozeki Chat Community edition

When you use the Ozeki Chat Communicty Edition, you are on you own. You must setup and maintain your own servers, do your own backups and perform all the required configurations yourself. For Community Edition systems Ozeki engineers are not available to provide technical support and assistance.

Technical limitations

You will have to use your own server infrastructure. You are not eligible to host your system in the Ozeki data center. The Ozeki data center provides services for Business Edition and Enterprise Edition chat systems. Business and Enterprise customers can use Ozeki services to make their chat system more efficient, and to offload work from their existing infrastructure.

  • Community edition chat servers cannot be hosted in the Ozeki data center (you have to install the chat server on your own computer)
  • Community edition chat systems cannot use Ozeki e-mail forwarding (you have to configure your own e-mail server)
  • Community edition chat systems cannot use Ozeki push notification forwarding (you have to configure your own push notification server)
  • Community edition chat systems cannot use Ozeki proxy services (you have to configure your own proxy or you have to open ports on your firewall to use the chat server from the Internet)
  • Community edition chat systems cannot use Ozeki STUN and TURN service (you have to setup your own STUN/TURN server to make auido/video calls work from anywhere on the Internet)
  • Community edition chat systems cannot use Ozeki secure backup/restore service (you have to take care of your own backups)
Legal limitations

When you use Ozeki Chat Community edition, we ask you to comply with the following legal and usage limitations. If you would like to use Ozeki for more then human-to-human interactions, you might want to consider upgrading your licnse to Ozeki Chat Business Edition or Ozeki Chat Enterprise Edition

  • You are not allowed to replace the Ozeki logo or change the product's name or appearance.
  • Ozeki Community edition is for human users only. You are not allowed to setup API access and create automated chat message notifications from your IT systems. To use API access switch to Ozeki Chat Business Edition or Ozeki Chat Enterprise Edition.
  • Push notifications will only work through direct UDP/IP links, which means, that Apple Push notifications serving iPhones and iPad-s, and Android Push notifications serving Android phones and tablets cannot be used to receive notifications about new chat messages when such mobile devices are offline
  • Usage stats and diagnostic information uploads to Ozeki should not be disabled. This anonymized information is used by Ozeki for statistical purposes, and to indentify which features have bugs and which features bneed to be improved.
